One Technology – Many Applications The latest star in the development of Wegener International ST Butt Welding Machines shines through highest quality standards and operator friendly control features. As is standard with all Wegener International, the construction of the ST model Butt Welders is based on a heavy duty welded steel machine frame with task conforming and precisely machined welding tables. The composite construction of the welding tables guarantees precision butt welds without misalignments even at permanent usage of the machine at maximum capacity. This proven design concept and the patented, maintenance free mechanical force synchronization (parallel travel mechanism) of the welding tables are the ideal prerequisites for quality assured welding in accordance with DVS 2208.

Included in the base machine is a Siemens S7-200 PLC controller with 5,7˝ graphic touch screen panel. The operator can enter the material and geometry specific parameters ‘pressures-times-temperature’ on an easily understandable screen. Optionally a property dataset (parameter) is available for this machine type. Equipped with this feature, all an operator has to do is to input sheet length, sheet thickness and select a standard material form the menu. Then the machine automatically calculates and sets all the necessary adjustments with respect to times, temperatures and pressures. The preprogrammed parameters are based on current DVS (German Welding Society) guidelines and include PP, PE extruded PVC, pressed PVC and PVDF. The appropriate welding pressures are controlled with a proportional valve. A window ‘fault’ clearly explains any possible operating related problems thus easing trouble shooting.
